Lissa Friedman, Ph.D. ATR LMHC
Lissa Friedman has a MA and
Ed.S. in Mental Health Counseling, and a Ph.D. in art Therapy. She
has been in private practice for nearly 20 years. At this time her
practice involves guiding people to let go of their false sense of
self or ego; uncovering the real essence of their being. This uncovering
allows for the full acceptance of human expression and experience,
and all of life as it is. There is boundless joy and great peace in
this acceptance.
Lissa’s spiritual training began when she was 19, at
which time she began practicing Transcendental Meditation, TM. When
she was 22 she became a teacher of TM, and at 23 she traveled
to India and spent 2 months in Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s
ashram, meditating. In her 30's she attended and assisted in
trainings with the Arica (Oscar Ichazo) school. Lissa worked
with her last teacher for about 10 years. When she left that
teacher she was most influenced by Ramana Maharishi, Papaji,
and Tolle.
Lissa has been leading a group or class for three to four years
in which the nature of self is explored, and the ego or false
identity is shed, revealing the essential nature. She has been
studying the Enneagram since 1988 and began teaching it in 2001.
Lissa is currently working on an Enneagram book which will include insights - not found in current literature -
that were gained through her teaching. She also has completed a book sharing her spiritual teachings and journey that is currently being edited and reviewed.
